3 Great Toronto Restaurants for Date Nights

3 Great Restaurants for Date Night in Toronto - Figo

Since we moved to Toronto in August 2018, we’ve had our fair share of occasions to celebrate: finding out we’re having a baby, 4 year anniversary, 2 birthdays, 2 new jobs and the fact that we moved across the globe! It was an exciting and busy 5 months for sure and to be honest, I loved it. I’m a strong believer in finding reasons to celebrate even the smaller things that happen in life and clearly, we’ve had some pretty obvious reasons for celebration.

As a couple who loves travelling and trying new food, our go-to celebrations usually consist of one or both of these two. Since we were waiting for our PR cards to arrive, travelling was off the table over the past months. Instead, we went for date nights in the city, which mostly consisted of dining out (the foodie inside me can’t resist) = opportunitu to explore the famous Toronto restaurants. Believe me, Toronto definitely has way too many exciting and mouth watering options to explore! In fact, Vogue announced Toronto as the world’s next culinary destination a few years ago.

If we’re ready…

Here’s our top 3 restaurants for date nights in Toronto (so far)

Best pizza in town: @Figo

Figo was our first fancy dining out experience in the city, when we decided to go for Italian on our anniversary date night in September. Honestly, I don’t remember loving any pizza more than Figo’s mushroom pizza with truffle oil – in my life! We’ve been talking about it way too much, recommending our friends to try it out, and also impatiently waiting for another opportunity to repeat the experience. And just recently we went for a second time on my birthday.

A few of the people I’ve recommended this place have actually told me Figo is one of their favorites in Toronto as well , so that speaks for itself.

Figo is an Italian-inspired restaurant, with a contemporary, light and feminine decor. The pastel colors, lustrous lighting and the soft pink blooms on the windows and ceilings are too pretty, you just can’t hold yourself from enjoying a signature pink colored cocktail.

Must try:

  • The mushroom pizza
  • Seafood linguine
  • Tiramisu

Toronto Favorite Restaurants - Sabai Sabai

Thai kitchen at it’s best: @Sabai Sabai

On the first day that I started working from WeWork on 33 Bloor East, a friend messaged me: ‘there’s a great Thai restaurant very close to your office’. Little did she know that I’m a fan of Thai cuisine and I cannot say no.

The entrance to the restaurant is very modest, so you don’t feel the energy until you take the steps downstairs and enter the main area. We went on a Friday evening without a reservation, so I’d say we were lucky to find a spot at the bar – this restaurant is always packed! The dim lighting, colors and liveliness of the space is energizing and it makes a great place to come with friends for good food and beer. Or on a casual and fun date night!

We tried the green curry with shrimp and chicken skewers as our main dish, and they were just as good as the dishes we ate in Thailand! No wonder blogTO mentions Sabai Sabai as one of the best Thai restaurants in Toronto. This place is a must try if you like Thai food, but don’t forget to make reservations as it is located in one of the busiest districts in the city.

Toronto Favorite Restaurants - Nodo

A very Italian experience @Nodo Hillcrest

We feel extremely lucky and happy to live in the St Clair West neighborhood and love exploring this area. On an evening walk when the weather was still warm, we spotted Nodo, a very cosy looking Italian restaurant. We instantly knew we had to try it out – an Italian restaurant at walking distance from our place- what more can I say!?

When we learnt I was pregnant, we had the perfect reason to go out and devour ourselves with pizza and arancinis – and so we did! The ambience is so calm and enjoyable, you feel like you could sip on your wine and relax for hours. We have only been here on weekdays and the crowd was perfect – not too little, not too much. But take not that Nodo doesn’t accept reservations, so be ready to wait if you’re going at a busy day and hour.

Arancini, burrata salad and pizzas are delicious. So is the rainbow trout. The main menu is really atractive, but I’d recommend to take a look at the menu of the day too.

Final note: the motto of the restaurant is: PASTA PIZZETTE VINI BIBITE.

Read it out loud. Doesn’t it sound lovely? 🙂
