Career selection is a struggle for so many, and it definitely was for me back in the day. I started my career in the corporate world in business development and discovered my passion while doing an MBA, few years into work life. When my interest in marketing, entrepreneurship and all things digital was combined, my career adventure unfolded into building my own ecommerce business and later on into becoming a digital marketing expert, specifically focused on the B2B tech market.
I’ve been in the digital marketing field for the past 5 years, worked remotely from several cities/countries around the world and currently work as a digital marketing manager (inbound marketing, to be exact) at a marketing agency based in Toronto. Our team works virtually and we meet in person from time to time and at onsite client meetings, when needed.
What is it like to work as a digital marketing manager?
Thinking back to my earlier days when I was trying to decide what my path would be, I realize it would’ve really helped me to learn what it would be like to work in this industry, this expertise area and in different types of companies – before I jumped in head first. Nowadays you are also presented the option of working in an office, with flexible hours or working remotely. They all have their pros and cons, but are radically different methods and it’s critical to find what works best for you.
With this in mind, I wanted to share my typical workday as a digital marketing manager at a marketing agency! Since I work remotely, you’ll see a day of working from home and how I juggle between two different jobs that I have.
